Jane Martin Retired General Partner
Jane Martin’s venture career has spanned nearly five decades beginning in Chicago in the 70’s at Allstate’s $250 million venture portfolio (FedEx, MCI, Control Data, MaryKay, Memorex,etc.). In the 80’s she joined USVP in Menlo Park as a General Partner in the first three funds (Sun Microsystems, Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Gymboree, Callaway Golf, etc.) After spending the 90’s as an LP in multiple venture funds, doing pro bono non profit work, and as CEO of IU’s first technology spinout, Wisdom Tools, Jane joined Massachusett’s based Village Ventures as a General Partner and cofounded an affiliate fund, Spring Mill Ventures in Indiana (Biostorage Technology, Sonarmed, Scale, etc.).
Jane earned a BS in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at IU. She received her CFA charter in 1979. She is a founding board member of the IU School of Informatics and Computing and was named a 2001 Kelley Distinguished Entrepreneur.
She has served on the Boards of The Nature Conservancy, Indiana Development Finance Authority, TechPoint (Vice Chair), and Gazelle Technology Ventures (Executive Com.); and is a Founding Investor in Grameen Bank Indiana. She is currently on the IU Foundation Board, The Dimension Mill Board,(Chair), IU Eskenazi Art Museum (Co Chair), The Bee Corp, Shalom Community Center (Chair) and several other not for profit boards and economic development initiatives. She is an active angel investor focusing on Impact investments.
