Gene Rodriguez Miller KAR Auction Services, Inc. Senior Director, Public Relations
Gene Rodriguez Miller is a skilled communicator with more than 25 years of experience. She is the senior director of public relations at KAR Auction Services, Inc. — a Fortune 750 company that helps the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, financial institutions, insurance companies and dealer groups buy, sell and trade used vehicles. In this role, Gene leads all external communications and media relations for the global company and its more than 20 brands. Since joining KAR in 2017, Gene has managed media and public relations campaigns announcing KAR’s new global headquarters, several company acquisitions and leadership changes, and industry-leading technology and product announcements at KAR.
Before joining KAR, she was public relations director at Anthem, a Fortune 30 company providing health benefits to more than 40 million Americans. Gene managed external communications for various enterprise-wide functions including IT, Info Security, Health Care Analytics, Privacy and Human Resources. During her time at Anthem, Gene helped manage the communications strategy and execution for responding to the 2015 cyber attack that impacted approximately 80 million individuals. She also served as the primary communications lead for the largest cyber attack settlement agreement in U.S. history, resolving various class action lawsuits against the company.
Before making the transition to corporate communications, Gene worked as a broadcast journalist for more than 15 years. She has worked at various television stations across the country as a news reporter and anchor interviewing celebrities, politicians, business leaders, as well as accused and convicted criminals. For the last eight years of her broadcast journalism career, Gene was an anchor at WISH TV in Indianapolis.
Gene earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Berry College. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and cooking. She and her husband live in Carmel, Indiana with their four dogs.
