Emily Miller Deputy Director of U.S Department of Commerce, Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Emily Miller serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the U.S. Economic Development Administration. Emily is a successful entrepreneur and leader with global business experience and a passion for entrepreneurship-based economic development and innovation at scale. Prior to this, she co-founded Rumi, a company that imports premium spices directly from conflict zones in Afghanistan and is one of the largest employers of Afghan women. Rumi was featured on Shark Tank and Emily was named one of the “Most Innovative Women” in Food & Wine. Previously, Emily served as a Captain in the U.S. Army on one deployment to Iraq and two deployments to Afghanistan serving with U.S. Special Operations teams where she earned a Bronze Star Medal and Combat Action Badge. She earned her Bachelor of Science from West Point and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
